Electricity of Lebanon (EDL) condemned the repeated acts of gunfire targeting high-voltage transmission lines in Akkar, particularly in the towns of Halba, Al-Hosniyya, Beit Heddara, and Jisr Arqa, following the announcement of municipal election results on Sunday, May 11, 2025.

In a statement issued Tuesday, EDL indicated that the celebratory shooting caused the collapse of protective wires and significant damage to power lines over extended distances, threatening public safety and the stability of electricity supply across the governorate.

According to the statement, the affected key lines include Deir Nbouh–Baalbek (220 kV), Deir Nbouh–Qoubaiyat–Beit Mellat (66 kV), and Deir Nbouh–Smar Jbeil (220 kV).

In this context, EDL urged citizens to cease such dangerous practices, warning of possible widespread blackouts and financial losses, and called on security forces to arrest the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
