President Joseph Aoun launched the Lebanese Red Cross Annual Fundraising campaign on Wednesday, announcing his decision to donate his salary to the humanitarian organization.

President Aoun made this announcement during a meeting with a delegation from the Red Cross led by its president, Antoine Zoghbi.

Aoun expressed deep appreciation for the Red Cross’s humanitarian efforts, stating, “Allow me to offer you my salary in support of your work.” He also acknowledged the organization’s rights, its efforts and its sacrifices.

He commended the Red Cross’s unwavering commitment to serving citizens across the nation, regardless of sectarian or political affiliations, highlighting the sacrifices made by medics who have been martyred or injured in the line of duty.

“It is the duty of everyone in Lebanon to stand by the Red Cross,” Aoun emphasized, pledging continued support and saluting every medic, paramedic and volunteer for their dedication and service.

For his part, Zoghbi thanked President Aoun for his generous gesture, affirming the organization’s ongoing commitment to serving the community impartially and with absolute neutrality.

“We continue despite the dust of the mountains, the flames of the coasts and the devastation of anger,” he affirmed, expressing gratitude for the president’s support and the trust placed in the Red Cross’s mission.
