Minister of Interior Ahmad al-Hajjar assured that the ongoing electoral process is facing no significant obstacles, aside from a few minor logistical issues. Speaking from Tripoli on Wednesday morning, he emphasized that the security situation is “under control” with no major disruptions to the election process. “The most important factor is the government’s commitment to holding the elections as scheduled,” he stated, praising the sense of responsibility shown by voters in Mount Lebanon.

Hajjar also noted that the lessons learned from the recent elections in Mount Lebanon will play a key role in ensuring the success of the upcoming elections in North Lebanon and Akkar on May 11.

In this context, the minister praised the tireless efforts of security forces, governors and law enforcement agencies who have relentlessly worked to ensure the smooth conduct of the elections and allow voters to fully exercise their democratic rights. Hajjar also stressed the importance of addressing any potential security threats. “We will not tolerate any violations or disruptions, particularly in Tripoli,” he warned. He encouraged voters in North Lebanon and Akkar to actively engage in the election process, stating, “It is the responsibility of every citizen to choose their representatives.”

Upon arriving at the Tripoli Serail, Minister Hajjar was welcomed by local authorities. A meeting was held to review the final preparations, both administrative and security related, ahead of Sunday’s elections.

It is worth noting that municipal elections officially began on May 4 in the Mount Lebanon districts.
