Lebanon’s Minister of Tourism Laura Lahoud reaffirmed the government’s commitment to restoring the country’s status as a top destination for visitors from the Gulf, during a ministerial meeting held on Tuesday at the Grand Serail under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Nawaf Salam.

The meeting comes amid renewed efforts by the Lebanese government to revitalize the tourism sector, with a particular focus on encouraging the return of Arab tourists. It follows a significant diplomatic breakthrough: the recent decision by the United Arab Emirates to lift its travel ban on Lebanon, a move widely seen as a renewed vote of confidence in the country’s stability.

In this context, Lahoud presented a detailed policy document outlining concrete measures aimed at improving the experience of Gulf visitors. Key priorities include enhanced intergovernmental coordination, tourist safety, transparent pricing and improvements to services and infrastructure at Beirut International Airport.

The minister also stressed the importance of establishing a fast and efficient mechanism to address tourist complaints, ensuring responsiveness and professionalism.

“These initiatives are part of a broader roadmap to re-position Lebanon as a preferred destination in the Arab world, built on long-term trust, quality and innovation,” Lahoud stated.

The meeting was attended by ambassadors and diplomatic envoys from several Gulf countries, including Saudi Arabia’s Walid Bukhari, Qatar’s Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Oman’s Ahmad bin Mohammed Al-Saeedi, the UAE’s chargé d’affaires Fahd Salem Al-Kaabi and Kuwait’s Yassine Al-Majed.

Several key cabinet members joined Lahoud at the meeting, including Minister of Defense Michel Menassa, Minister of Interior Ahmad al-Hajjar and Minister of Public Works and Transport Fayez Rasamny.
