US President Donald Trump’s Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff, announced that several major declarations concerning the expansion of the Abraham Accords are expected “very soon,” just days before Trump embarks on a high-stakes diplomatic tour of the region.

Scheduled for May 13-16, Trump’s visit will include stops in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, in a bid to reinforce strategic ties and build on the normalization framework established during his previous administration.

Speaking at a reception hosted by the Israeli Embassy in Washington, Witkoff also addressed mounting concerns over Iran’s nuclear ambitions, asserting unequivocally that “Iran will not possess nuclear weapons.” He added that negotiations between Washington and Tehran are progressing, and confirmed efforts are underway to secure a fourth round of talks.

“The President has expressed his willingness to resolve this issue diplomatically, if possible,” he said, also citing active work to free 59 Israeli hostages held in Gaza.

The Abraham Accords, signed in 2020 under Trump’s leadership, normalized diplomatic relations between Israel and several Arab states, namely the UAE, Bahrain, Sudan and Morocco. The agreements marked a major geopolitical shift in the region, fostering cooperation in the economic, security and technological sectors, and were widely seen as part of a broader effort to curb Iran’s regional influence.
