President Joseph Aoun has filed two appeals Thursday before the Constitutional Council challenging recently enacted laws that came into effect automatically.
The first appeal concerns the law on the liberalization of non-residential rent contracts, while the second targets amendments to legislation regulating the organization of private schools and their budgets. Both laws were officially published in the Official Gazette on April 3, 2025.
According to the Presidency, the appeals seek to clarify certain provisions deemed ambiguous within the texts, aiming to ensure smoother implementation for all parties involved — including property owners, tenants, educational institutions, and teaching staff.
