An agreement has been reached in Parliament to urgently amend the recently enacted law governing compensation for private school teachers. Deputy Speaker of Parliament Elias Bou Saab announced on Tuesday that a revised draft law, fast-tracked for urgent approval, will be reviewed during the next legislative session.

The announcement came after a meeting in Parliament that brought together the Education Parliamentary Committee, representatives from the Union of Private Schools, the Teachers’ Syndicate and the Director of the Compensation Fund.

“Although the law was properly passed by Parliament, it was unjustly obstructed. It has now been published in the Official Gazette and is fully in effect,” said Bou Saab following the meeting.
