Interior Minister Ahmed al-Hajjar on Monday praised the Internal Security Forces (ISF) Information Branch for its rapid response and successful arrest of the thief who robbed pharmacies and shops in multiple areas over the past two days.

Al-Hajjar's remarks came during a meeting of the Central Internal Security Council (CISC), which he chaired in Beirut. He urged security agencies to intensify their field presence, ramp up proactive operations, and increase patrols in various regions to preserve public order—particularly during the upcoming holiday period.

The minister also emphasized the importance of bolstering efforts to combat the manufacture, smuggling, and distribution of drugs across Lebanon’s borders, as well as tackling their local promotion.

Addressing the upcoming municipal elections, al-Hajjar instructed the relevant agencies to take all necessary precautions to ensure a secure and transparent voting process, stressing the need to avoid any form of interference.

The CISC meeting was attended by Judge Jamal El Hajjar, Attorney General at the Court of Cassation; ISF Director General Maj. Gen. Raed Abdallah; General Security Chief Maj. Gen. Hassan Choucair; and other senior security officials.

A pharmacy in Jbeil was robbed on Sunday, though details of the incident remain limited.
