
Passenger traffic at Beirut International Airport (BIA) saw a slight decrease in the first quarter of 2025, with a total of 1,254,550 passengers, representing a 1.42% drop compared to the same period in 2024, when the airport recorded 1,272,625 travelers. However, there was a positive trend in arrivals, which increased compared to last year.
The total number of flights from January to March 2025 was 10,406, covering both incoming and outgoing flights.
Breaking it down by month, January saw 431,082 passengers, February had 420,403, and March recorded 403,065 passengers, according to figures released by airport authorities on Thursday.
While overall traffic declined slightly, arrivals to Lebanon rose by 9.33%, reaching 678,247 passengers compared to 620,348 during the same period in 2024. On the other hand, departures saw a decrease of 11.60%, with 576,277 passengers leaving the country. Transit passengers plummeted by more than 92%, with only 26 passengers recorded in this category.
In terms of flights, the airport handled 10,406 operations, with 5,206 arrivals (a decrease of 4.23%) and 5,200 departures (down 4.48%), involving airlines from Lebanon and abroad.
In the first week of April 2025, the airport experienced a notable recovery, handling 138,522 passengers, including 61,658 arrivals and 76,864 departures, signaling a positive start to the second quarter despite ongoing challenges facing Lebanon’s aviation and tourism sectors.
