
Public Works and Transport Minister Fayez Rasamni has committed on Friday to advancing the operation of Rene Mouawad Airport in Qlayaat, emphasizing its potential for economic and developmental benefits.
During a meeting with the airport's operating committee, Rasamni announced that he had instructed contractors to begin the rehabilitation of three critical border crossings: Aboudieh, Arida and Wadi Khaled. He also promised an upcoming visit to areas in Akkar to further address development needs.
Committee Chairman Hamed Zakaria underscored the national and economic importance of reopening the airport, highlighting its role in fostering development in deprived northern regions. He noted that the airport’s operation would generate thousands of job opportunities and stimulate investment in the area.
