Basketball – Dubai Tournament: Beirut Club Strike Hard in First Game

As part of the Dubai International Tournament, Beirut Club made a big impression with a 99-81 victory over UAE club al-Nasr at Rashid bin Hamdan Hall in Dubai.

Under the direction of Jad al-Hajj, newly chosen to take over the reins of the capital club, Beirut Club started the game with a starting five comprising Sergio Darwish, Ali Mezher, Ali Haidar, Ricky Ledo and Tony Farmer.

The team started the match with a hard-hitting attack, and Ricky Ledo proved to be instrumental throughout the game. The former NBA player for the Dallas Mavericks scored 15 points, grabbed 3 rebounds and dished out 3 assists in the first half, a remarkable performance that greatly contributed to the club's victory.

At half-time, Beirut Club led by a comfortable 17 points (52-35), demonstrating their mastery of the game and their ability to move the ball efficiently.

Hajj's men maintained their dominance throughout the match, giving their opponents no chance. With a significant lead, the coach was able to rotate his squad widely, giving playing time to young players such as Mohammad Malla, who scored 7 points, as well as Elio Bouzakhm and Christophe Khalil, recently signed by the club.

The top scorer of the match was Marvelle Harris of the Emirati club, who scored 27 points in 34 minutes of play. However, in terms of points, Ali Haidar stood out for Beirut Club with 21 points, closely followed by Ricky Ledo with 20. Kenneth Kadji also contributed 12 points.

In terms of statistics, Beirut Club showed a notable superiority with a 66% success rate on 2-point shots, compared to 50% for al-Nasr. On 3-point shots, Beirut Club were also more accurate, with a success rate of 43% (7/16), compared with 30% for al-Nasr (7/23).
