Sunday night was violent for the inhabitants of southern Lebanon and the Beqaa.
As Israeli violations of the agreement continued, Israeli warplanes raided one of the Lebanese-Syrian border crossings at Qasr in Hermel at midnight on Sunday. Meanwhile, the Israeli Army's Arabic-speaking spokesman, Avichay Adraee, announced on his X account on Monday that “the air force attacked Hezbollah targets that posed a threat to the security of Israel.”
He added that the provisions of the truce agreement had still not been respected by Hezbollah, justifying these maneuvers. Adraee added that “a rocket-launching platform, a military site and several roads on the Syrian-Lebanese border — used to transport military equipment for Hezbollah — have been bombed.”
Two locals detained
In the morning, the Israeli army also arrested two locals from Shwaia, in the Hasbaya caza, while maintaining its presence in several localities in southern Lebanon. Meanwhile, the Lebanese army continues to deploy in the region, sixteen days before the ceasefire expires.
The two people were inspecting their beehives at Wadi Khansa in the al-Mari plain and were released after short interrogations.
Meanwhile, Israeli troops set fire to several houses in the Mufailha neighbourhood, west of Mays al-Jabal, while more than 15 successive explosions were heard in the area.
Lebanese Army Deployment
While Israeli forces have withdrawn from several villages in southern Lebanon in recent weeks, the Lebanese Army has begun a massive deployment along the border. This repositioning, scheduled for Monday, was, however, postponed in Mays al-Jabal and Aitaroun, due to sweep operations carried out by the Israelis in Khiam using heavy and medium machine guns. Several military vehicles were also seen in the Mays al-Jabal neighborhoods, following a loud explosion shortly after midnight on Monday.
In the morning, at around 8:30 AM, several houses were attacked in Aita al-Shaab, in the Bint Jbeil area. Additionally, the areas of Mfaylha (Marjayoun) and Ras al-Dahr to the west of Mays al-Jabal were heavily shelled by Israeli forces accompanied by tanks and military vehicles.
