The Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) deployed in Hamoul and Naqoura in the western sector of South Lebanon on Monday, establishing positions in three locations.
The deployment followed the simultaneous withdrawal of the Israeli army from the western area, according to Israeli media.
Earlier on Monday, the Municipality of Naqoura indicated that the LAF had begun moving into their positions within the town.
In a message to the residents of Naqoura, the municipality stated that “a force of the Lebanese Army and Civil Defense will provide support for [their] safe return after confirming that there is no more danger.”
In the town of Khiam, the bodies of seven individuals were recovered by Civil Defense search and rescue teams, the General Directorate of Civil Defense said in a statement on Monday.
The bodies were transferred to Marjayoun Hospital for identification, in full coordination with the LAF.
“Search operations will resume Tuesday morning until all missing persons are found,” the statement added.
In the meantime, the Israeli government stressed on Monday that if Hezbollah does not move north of the Litani River, the ceasefire deal with Lebanon could be jeopardized.
It also reiterated that it will not permit Iran to send weapons to Hezbollah, in line with the ceasefire accord.
