On Friday, the Banque du Liban (BDL) issued a circular asking banks to pay two monthly installments to beneficiaries of circulars 158 and 166, which concern exceptional bank withdrawals of fresh dollars, at the beginning of January. Depositors benefiting from Circular 158 will receive $800 in cash instead of $400, while those benefiting from Circular 166 will receive $300 instead of $150.
For similar reasons, the BDL had already modified Circulars 158 and 166 in October, and only once, to allow eligible depositors to receive three monthly payments for October, instead of just one.
Sources claim that the coming weeks will see a final adjustment of the monthly installment increase in line with BDL's financial capabilities.
