Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu emphasized on Tuesday that while a ceasefire with Hezbollah is currently in place along the Lebanese border, it does not mark the conclusion of hostilities. Speaking during a press briefing, Netanyahu stressed that Israel remains vigilant and prepared to act against any breach of the truce.
“We are currently observing a ceasefire with Hezbollah in Lebanon, but this does not signify the end of the war,” he declared. “We are enforcing the ceasefire with an iron fist and responding decisively to any violation, whether minor or significant.”
Netanyahu’s remarks come amidst heightened tensions along Israel’s northern border, where sporadic clashes with Hezbollah have raised concerns about a broader conflict. The prime minister’s firm stance highlights Israel’s commitment to maintaining security in the region while addressing threats posed by the Iran-backed militant group.
In his statement, Netanyahu also expressed gratitude to US President-elect Donald Trump for his vocal support concerning the issue of hostages held by Hamas. He noted that Trump’s comments clearly pointed to Hamas as the sole party responsible for the ongoing crisis.
“I thank US President-elect Donald Trump for his statement regarding the hostages, as it underscores that there is only one party responsible for this situation — Hamas,” Netanyahu said.
The prime minister’s remarks reflect Israel’s ongoing efforts to navigate a complex regional landscape, balancing military readiness with diplomatic efforts to address multiple fronts of conflict.
