US special envoy Amos Hochstein reportedly informed Israel in a letter, delivered on Monday, of alleged violations of the ceasefire agreement with Lebanon, according to Israeli media reports.
Sources cited by Ynet revealed that Hochstein highlighted "Israeli violations of the cease-fire agreement, mainly the visible and audible return of Israeli drones in the skies over Beirut." The sources further noted, "For the cease-fire to last, we need restraint from all sides."
France had initially raised concerns about Israeli breaches, accusing Israel of violating the ceasefire agreement more than 50 times. However, the United States has now joined in these warnings. Hochstein, who played a key role in brokering the agreement, reportedly addressed these accusations to Israeli officials in his letter.
On Monday, Foreign Minister Gideon Saar addressed these claims during a meeting with his French counterpart, Jean-Noël Barrot. Saar maintained that Israel was not violating the agreement but rather enforcing it in response to Hezbollah's breaches, which he said demanded immediate action.
"Hezbollah's presence south of the Litani is a fundamental violation of the agreement. They must move north," Saar stated. He also countered France’s allegations that Israel had failed to report Hezbollah's actions to the international commission and had used lethal force, resulting in civilian casualties.
Saar called on the Lebanese government to "clearly authorize the Lebanese army to carry out the actions required of it under the agreement."
