Journalist Daoud Rammal announced on Monday that he has filed a formal complaint with judicial authorities after being assaulted on Saturday by what he described as "an outlaw partisan group."
Rammal’s announcement was made at a sit-in held in his support outside the Palace of Justice in Beirut. The incident reportedly occurred in Doueir, a village in the Nabatiyeh governorate, where Rammal was visiting his parents' grave site.
He alleged that the assailants were members of Hezbollah, the Iranian-backed political and militant group.
“This case is now a fight for freedom and the protection of divergent opinions. We will not accept anyone imposing the Wilayat al-Faqih system on us,” Rammal stated, referencing Hezbollah’s ideological framework championed by Iran.
Despite the assault and what he described as persisting pressures, Rammal vowed to continue defending his views. “I am more determined than ever to fight for a Lebanon of dignity,” he said, urging media outlets to stand in solidarity with individuals who have faced repression.
