The Parliament Speaker affirmed that Lebanon was at a crucial turning point and that the Lebanese people were experiencing a significant moment of truth, especially the Shiite community.
Berri emphasized the importance of electing a president “who unites and doesn’t divide nor pose a challenge to anyone.”
Addressing the Lebanese people on Wednesday, on the occasion of the ceasefire agreement coming into effect, the Parliament Speaker expressed his gratitude to “the brotherly and friendly countries that provided assistance to Lebanon, as well as the diplomats whose efforts led to the ceasefire,” praising the roles of the Lebanese Army, UNIFIL and all security apparatuses.
Nabih Berri stated that "Lebanon has managed to counter the effects of the Israeli aggression and embark on a new phase after the ceasefire agreement."
He went on to thank everyone who embraced the displaced persons, “for embodying the face of solidarity which Lebanon desperately needed.”
“This stage was the most dangerous for Lebanon,” he disclosed calling on the displaced people “to return to their homes.”
