MP Hadi Abou el-Hosn, member of the Democratic Gathering bloc, expressed sharp criticism of Iranian involvement in Lebanon, stating that Ali Larijani's recent visit was not as a mediator but as an interventionist. Speaking to LBCI, Abou el-Hosn said, “Enough interference in our affairs and exploiting the Lebanese people.”
He emphasized that compromises are no longer effective, urging prioritization of national interests as Lebanon faces a critical crossroads. He stressed the importance of preserving the country's borders and unity, adding that it is time for all Lebanese people to find relief.
Additionally, the MP highlighted that while France and the US act as mediators, Iran seeks regional influence, not mediation. However, he noted, “We have one enemy—Israel. Iran is not an enemy; any state with diplomatic ties to us is a friend.”
He remarked that Speaker Nabih Berri negotiates on behalf of a key group under threat, advocating for some leeway in his role. In contrast, he called for clearer stances from Prime Minister Najib Mikati, deeming “the state’s position on Iranian intervention acceptable.”
Finally, he described the recent airport developments, during which the Iranian delegation accompanying Larijani was allegedly searched, as a positive step towards restoring sovereignty.
