Israeli strikes continued in South Lebanon and Beqaa. Mount Lebanon has also been targeted by the Israeli army.
Mount Lebanon
At around 10:30 this morning, Israeli warplanes carried out an airstrike on the town of Almat in the Jbeil district, following intense fighter jet activity over the skies of Keserwan.
The airstrike reportedly targeted a house belonging to Al-Haidar family, which was sheltering displaced people from Baalbeck.
The Ministry of Health announced a preliminary death toll of 27, including 7 children, and 8 wounded. More than 15 bodies have been transferred to Notre-Dame des Secours and Notre-Dame Maritime hospitals, as well as Bouar governmental hospital.
Jbeil MP Ziad Hawat, a member of the Strong Republic (Lebanese Forces) bloc, deplored the fact that the city of “Jbeil, like other areas, has become vulnerable to airstrikes due to the presence of (Hezbollah) officials targeted by Israel.”
In an interview with local channel MTV, Hawat called on residents to check the identity of tenants and to be “fully aware of the need to protect displaced persons.”
“Any Hezbollah commander or official should not be among civilians,” he insisted.
Hawat also commented on recent speeches by Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem, saying that the latter is “in denial and out of touch with reality.”
“The war must end out of compassion for the Shiites, for South Lebanon and for the Lebanese,” he concluded.
