Lebanon has submitted another complaint to the United Nations Security Council, denouncing Israel’s continued aggression and violations of Lebanese sovereignty between October 25 and November 1, 2024. This is not the first time Lebanon has raised such concerns with the UN, as part of its routine efforts to document Israeli attacks and demand international accountability. The latest complaint highlights Israeli ground incursions, the destruction of border villages, and the targeting of civilian areas, urging the Security Council to take firm action to stop these violations and hold Israel accountable.
In the complaint, Lebanon condemned the extensive damage inflicted on border villages like Odaisseh, where Israeli forces detonated a neighborhood using 400 tons of explosives. Additional villages including Kfar Kila, Hula, and Mays al-Jabal also suffered significant destruction. Lebanon argues that these actions are part of a broader strategy to transform the border strip into an uninhabited buffer zone.
The Lebanese government also condemned Israel’s attacks on densely populated residential areas, places of worship, and archaeological sites in Tyre and Baalbeck. The complaint emphasized the repeated targeting of the Lebanese Army, ambulances, and civil defense teams, along with Israel's use of internationally banned white phosphorus bombs.
Lebanon has called for the Security Council to take immediate action to ensure the full implementation of Security Council Resolution 1701 and bring an end to Israel's violations.
