Al-Qard Al-Hasan Customer Concerns

Customers of Al-Qard al-Hasan, Hezbollah's illicit financial institution, attempted in vain to get in touch with the branches that were not hit by Israeli strikes. All which were spared by the Israeli war machine have, unsurprisingly, suspended their activities.

These clients wanted to know what had happened to their “deposits” and if the records of this “bank’s” operations were in a secure location. They specifically worry that the AQAH database may be destroyed, which would make it impossible for them to later claim their financial rights.

Under the guise of an association, AQAH collected unpaid deposits and made microloans up to $10,000. ATMs were available for beneficiaries to withdraw funds from.

According to local residents, neither Hezbollah nor rescue teams in Beirut’s southern suburbs have cleared the areas targeted by Israeli fighter jets, for fear of being the target of further strikes.
