The Public Health Emergency Operations Center of the Public Health Ministry revealed that as of October 29, 2024, the total number of deaths reached 2,787, while 12,772 were wounded. In the last 24 hours, 77 persons were killed and 180 injured, according to the latest numbers published on Tuesday night by the Ministry.
Two Israeli raids on Haret Saïda, the second and third in as many days, left at least seven people dead and some twenty wounded, on Tuesday night, according to initial reports.
The raid targeted three buildings, close to an army barrack, in a densely populated area, and caused extensive damage. Ambulances rushed to the scene as rescue teams searched the rubble for survivors.
Saida's Hammoud Hospital has issued an appeal for blood donations from all rhesus groups.
On the ground, in the South, the major development was an Israeli incursion in Khiam and the lack of information about a group of 17 people, mainly women and children, who had taken refuge in a building hit by the Israeli army.
A convoy of Israeli tanks entered Lebanese territory on Tuesday, advancing from the Metula settlement toward al-Hammams Hill and the eastern outskirts of Khiam.
This incursion marks a major development on the ground. Heavy fighting was taking place in the area between Hezbollah fighters and Israeli soldiers attempting to advance, according to a statement from the pro-Iranian group.
For its part, the Israeli Army Arabic spokesperson Avichay Adraee stated on his X account that the Golani Brigade apprehended the commander of Hezbollah's Aita al-Shaab area, Hassan Aqil Jawad, and several fighters.
Earlier, he stated in another post on X that the Carmeli Brigade, under the command of Division 146, has been conducting intensified field operations in southern Lebanon.
During their operations, “the forces reportedly uncovered and destroyed an underground Hezbollah command center, which included infrastructure reaching a depth of approximately eight meters.”
Additionally, the forces “discovered and neutralized another underground facility containing an extensive field of explosive devices, estimated to contain around half a ton of explosives,” he added.
This structure, reportedly built by Hezbollah years ago, was in a residential area within a village in southern Lebanon. The facility and the explosives were destroyed as part of the ongoing Israeli operation.
Concerns have grown following reports of a targeted house in the Wata al-Khiam area on Monday night. Seventeen people, including women and children from two families, were sheltering in the building when it was struck by the Israeli army.
Communication with them has since been lost and their status remains unknown. The Lebanese Army Intelligence Directorate, through its Marjayoun office, is working with the Lebanese Red Cross to reach the site and assess the situation.
Non-Stop Airstrikes
Meanwhile, the Israeli army kept targeting what it called “Hezbollah’s objectives.”
An Israeli airstrike on Sojod in the Tyre district on Tuesday afternoon resulted in two deaths and several injuries, according to preliminary reports.
An Israeli drone targeted a vehicle on the Bayt al-Sayyad and al-Amriya road in southern Tyre, injuring multiple people. Additional drone strikes were reported in Habboush and Halousiyah, leading to further casualties.
Eleven airstrikes hit Yohmor al-Shaqif, killing two people and destroying multiple homes in the town. The Israeli army also conducted a series of airstrikes and artillery bombardments in Shaqra, Majdal Selm, Deir al-Zahrani and Khiam.
Three airstrikes hit Yohmor al-Shaqif on Tuesday morning, causing considerable damage to local infrastructure.
In light of the escalating violence, the Israeli military issued evacuation warnings to several southern villages, advising residents of Tayr Harfa, Jibeen, Qasr al-Ahmar and surrounding areas to evacuate immediately due to heightened security risks.
In the Beqaa region, three injuries were reported in the city of Qilya from an Israeli airstrike following a heavy night during which 63 individuals were killed.
