The General directorate of the Land registry office announced on Tuesday that “the cadastral secretariats of Aley and Chouf will hand over ready payment orders and ready property titles to those who wish to have them, or their representatives, on Thursday, October 31, 2024.” It said that a reception mechanism has been determined for that.
They will also receive requests for duplicate documents, delimitations and real estate declarations. All requests will be received from the parties concerned (copy of ID enclosed) or their proxies (copy of power of attorney document), the office added in a statement.
It also asked those who wish to do these formalities to visit its website and consult the “Latest news” section to ensure that the title deed belonging to them is there. They are also asked to bring two LL50,000 stamps with them, or to purchase them from accredited financial companies.
As a reminder, the land registry offices in Mount Lebanon, which include those in Baabda, Aley, Metn, Chouf, Jounieh and Jbeil, remained closed from October 2022 to January 22, 2024, due to the prosecution of 124 civil servants for corruption, following allegations of bribery. More than 50,000 land registration formalities are still pending, which resulted in a huge loss for the Treasury.
