Passenger traffic at Beirut International Airport (BIA) has surged again following a brief slowdown caused by heightened regional tensions. On Wednesday alone, the airport recorded 11,203 arrivals, marking a significant uptick in travel activity that may continue in the coming days.
The rebound comes as several major Arab and international airlines, including Emirates and Air France, resume flights that had been temporarily suspended amid the Israeli-Iranian conflict. The return of these carriers signals growing confidence in regional stability, at least from an operational standpoint.
June had initially seen strong momentum at the airport, with daily arrivals peaking at around 18,000 passengers ahead of the Eid al-Adha holiday. However, the escalation of regional hostilities quickly dampened that trend, slashing arrivals to a low of about 4,000 per day. Traffic gradually recovered to 8,000–9,000 daily arrivals before Wednesday’s notable spike.
Departures on the same day totaled 7,700, with 66 incoming and 67 outgoing flights, indicating that BIA is steadily regaining its pre-crisis rhythm.
