Firas Abiad, caretaker Minister of Public Health, emphasized that the stock of medications for chronic diseases is sufficient for at least four to five months.

Speaking at a press conference on Friday, he emphasized that Middle East Airlines is prioritizing health matters and ensuring secure imports, with aid allocated to Lebanon for chronic disease medications helping replenish stocks. “New quantities will be provided when medicine runs out after four months”, added Abiad.

He reassured cancer patients that “some companies delivered a six-month supply for cancer drugs.”

Regarding cancer treatments, Mr. Abiad assured their availability, stating that current stocks are adequate for a period of six months. He highlighted that currently, 233 healthcare centers are serving 788 accommodation areas across different regions, with 1.6 million medication boxes already distributed. Approximately 500,000 packs have been provided to shelters in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO).

Addressing the spread of cholera in accommodation centers, the caretaker minister stated, "We are conducting vaccination campaigns to prevent cholera in several regions, including Akkar, Bekaa, Baalbek, and Hermel." He added that all hospitals have been instructed to address this issue, adding that only one cholera case has been determined. He concluded that cholera cases are not linked to the waves of displacement resulting from the escalating tensions between Hezbollah and Israel.
