A Russian plane carrying 20 tons of medical aid arrived on Tuesday morning at the military base of Beirut's Rafic Hariri International Airport.

The aid was received by the caretaker Minister of Public Health, Firas Abiad, in the presence of Russian Ambassador Alexander Rodakov and the chairman of the parliamentary Health Committee, MP Bilal Abdallah.

"This is not the first aid plane we receive from the Russian Federation," explained Abiad, specifying that this batch is "intended for the health sector in Lebanon."

The cargo, which includes medicines and medical equipment, "arrives at the appropriate time as we witness an expansion of Israeli attacks on Lebanon, unfortunately targeting the health sector and hospitals including the hospitals of Baalbeck, Tibnin, Hiram, and others," he said.

He also praised the "excellent" historical relations between Lebanon and Russia.

For his part, the Russian ambassador emphasized the importance of "this humanitarian support for both countries," noting that Russia's efforts are deployed internationally to achieve an immediate ceasefire, not only in Lebanon but also in the Gaza Strip.
