Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Monday that Israel was changing the security reality in the region to ensure that an attack like the one on October 7 does not happen again.

"We are changing the security reality in our region—for the sake of our children, for the sake of our future—to ensure that what happened on the seventh of October will not happen again. Never again," Netanyahu said in a cabinet address, according to his office.

Netanyahu vowed to bring back all hostages still held by Palestinian militants in Gaza as Israel marked the first anniversary of the attack by Hamas. "On this day, in this place, and in many places across our country, we remember our dead, our hostages, whom we are obligated to bring back, and our heroes who fell in defense of the homeland and the nation. We went through a terrible massacre a year ago," Netanyahu said in a statement released by his office.

The premier's comments came just hours after an Israeli campaign group announced the death of another hostage held in Gaza.

The Hostages and Missing Families Forum reported that Idan Shtivi, 28, was abducted from the site of the Nova music festival and that his "body is still held captive by Hamas."
