An Emirati jet carrying food and medical supplies landed at Beirut Rafic Hariri International Airport on Friday.
“Today, we received two planes from the UAE, one in cooperation with the World Health Organization, carrying 40 tons of medical aid, and the second carrying about 55 tons of foodstuffs,” said caretaker Minister of Environment Nasser Yassin while receiving the provided supplies.
He thanked the Emirati President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for providing “urgent aid to Lebanon worth $100 million,” disclosing that “a third plane is scheduled to arrive with 40 tons of medical aid as well.”
Yassin stated that “many planes will arrive tomorrow at BIA to complete the commendable humanitarian initiative in response to the Lebanese appeal,” reaffirming that the Emirati airlift will continue.
“This will contribute to covering our shortage of medical and food items and help ease the wounds of our displaced people,” he concluded.
