In a demonstration of growing bilateral ties and shared development goals, the Minister of Public Works and Transport, Fayez Rasamny, conducted a site visit Wednesday to Beirut International Airport (BIA) and the Port of Beirut, accompanied by a high-level delegation from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The Emirati delegation included senior officials from the Government Experience Exchange Office (GEEO), the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the UAE Mission in Beirut, and the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD).

The visit featured detailed presentations on the current state of Lebanon’s port and airport infrastructure, alongside discussions aimed at fostering technical cooperation between the two countries.

Speaking from the Port of Beirut, Minister Rasamny outlined Lebanon’s infrastructure ambitions and emphasized the country’s readiness to rebuild and modernize.
“We have many projects underway, and we are studying the development of our ports and our national capacities,” Rasamny stated, making clear that “Lebanon is brimming with talent, and what we need today is to restore confidence in our country.”

He also expressed deep appreciation for the continued support of the UAE, describing the Gulf nation as a “second home” for many Lebanese.
“When our country was going through hardships, our fellow citizens were forced to leave,” he said. “Today, as a new era begins, we are working to bring them back.”

On his part, Abdullah Nasser Lootah, UAE Deputy Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Competitiveness and Knowledge Exchange, reaffirmed his country’s long-standing commitment to Lebanon’s development.
“The Lebanese people aspire for their country to regain its strategic role,” he said, stressing that the President of the Emirates is “committed to supporting Lebanon in realizing its ambitions.”

The visit underscores the UAE’s sustained interest in Lebanon’s recovery process and its efforts to modernize critical infrastructure, as the two countries explore new avenues for collaboration in the transport and logistics sectors.
