The southern front remained ablaze on Friday. Late in the afternoon, Hezbollah announced that it had fired a volley of Katyusha rockets at an Israeli intelligence base, which it accused of being responsible for the “assassinations”. The attack followed an Israeli air raid on the southern suburbs of Beirut, which claimed the lives of Ibrahim Aqil, head of the pro-Iranian group's elite “Al Radwan” unit, and at least nine others.
The pro-Iranian party also shelled the headquarters of the air control unit and the air operations department of the Meron base with Katyusha rockets.
According to Israeli Channel 13, some twenty rockets were fired from southern Lebanon towards northern Israel, ten of which were intercepted without causing any injuries.
Israeli artillery targeted the villages of Aïta al-Shaab, Kfar Kila, Aïtaroun, Odaisseh, Yaroun, Taybeh, Alma al-Shaab and Mays al-Jabal.
Earlier, Israeli army spokesman Avichai Adrae said on X that “Israeli fighter jets attacked hundreds of launch pads ready to launch attacks towards Israel”.
During the day, electricity was partially cut off in Safad as a result of the Hezbollah attacks.
The Israeli army also announced the death of two of its soldiers on Friday in attacks carried out by the pro-Iranian party.
