The Qatar Fund for Development announced on Tuesday its intention to provide a “$15 million donation to supply the army with fuel for a period of 3 months, a move aimed at strengthening its capacity to face growing security challenges in light of the economic difficulties Lebanon is experiencing.”
The army's Commander-in-Chief, General Joseph Aoun, who met with the Qatari Ambassador to Lebanon, Sheikh Saoud ben Abdel Rahmane al-Thani, and the Acting Managing Director of the Qatar Fund for Development, Sultan al-Asiri, expressed his gratitude for “this gift,” as part of Qatar's constant initiatives that demonstrate its commitment to fraternal relations between the two countries and support for Lebanon's security and stability during the current crisis.
Discussions also focused on other ways to support the Lebanese army.
