Lebanon formally submitted complaints on Thursday to both the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in response to Israeli cyber-attacks.
The Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs requested condemnation from Security Council member states, citing significant threats to the nation’s civil aviation services, telecommunications networks, and vital infrastructure.
The complaints stem from a report by the Lebanese Ministry of Telecommunications, which identified a source of jamming in northern Israel.
This interference has reportedly led to a reduction in GPS accuracy, impacting transportation and communication services within Lebanon. Alerts from the Network Time Protocol server indicate frequent GPS signal losses and diminished quality in mobile network services.
Consequently, Lebanon’s Permanent Mission in New York and Geneva urged international bodies to take action.
The Lebanese government condemned these actions as violations of its sovereignty and international law and called on the international community to apply pressure on Israel to cease its cyberwarfare.
