The Association of Lebanese Industrialists, represented by its president, Salim Zeenni, and the Beirut Port Management and Investment Committee, represented by Beirut Port General Manager, Omar Itani, signed a memorandum of understanding on Friday, aiming to develop a cooperation framework between the two parties to support the industry and national economy.
This memorandum will create an appropriate platform for ongoing consultations and coordination between the association and the port authority concerning all transactions and works related to national industry, including preferential treatment granted to industrialists affiliated with the association.
Zeenni called for the re-establishment of an industrial free zone at the port, citing its significant positive impact on commercialization and increased exports of industrial products.
For his part, Itani emphasized that the memorandum aims to support domestic industry, facilitate business for industrialists, and offer preferential treatment.
