The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation "Kan" reported on preparations for war in the north, but from a different front. According to their Arab affairs correspondent, Elior Levy, movements in the West Bank appear related to an assassination that took place today in Qalqilya.
Levy mentioned that Palestinian security forces have noticed increased communications between activists of the "Islamic Jihad" and "Hamas" movements in Lebanon and their counterparts in the West Bank. The discussions involve new smuggling operations of weapons and funds from Lebanon to military activists of these movements in the West Bank.
Levy also noted that Palestinian Authority security forces commented that arming fighters in the West Bank is part of preparations for a potential war scenario with Lebanon.
"The Palestinian security forces believe that in the event of a war on the Lebanese front, these cells will prepare for a series of military operations in the West Bank and inside Israel,” he said, adding, “Therefore, they are being armed and flooded with funds for this phase, with Iran working intensively to deliver money and weapons through Jordan."
