The town of Borgholieh, north of Tyre, was the scene of several successive Israeli raids on Monday.
The Israeli air force launched its third attack of the day on the town on Monday evening, targeting a car and causing injuries. A motorcycle was also the target of a drone raid in the Borgholieh region, injuring several people.
This attack comes as earlier in the afternoon, a drone had targeted a car in the same area, causing the death of one person. After residents had gathered to inspect the first car, the Israeli army targeted another car. The attack left 8 people slightly injured.
Borgholieh is less than a kilometer from the banks of the Litani River.
Meanwhile, Hezbollah declared in a night-time communiqué that it had struck the Manara post with missiles and artillery shells in retaliation for the Borgholieh attack. In the same retaliation, the pro-Iranian group also stated that it had shelled the headquarters of the Al Sahel brigade command in the Beit Hillel barracks with Katyusha rockets, wounding Israeli soldiers.
Hezbollah also claimed to have bombed the Plasan military industries factory in the settlement of Saasaa with Falaq missiles.
The Israeli air force also carried out strikes on Aïta el-Chaab with two surface-to-air missiles, as well as in the Teir Harfa and Naqoura regions.
It is important to note that Amos Hochstein, the US President's Special Representative, arrived in Israel in the evening after leaving Lebanon, where he had been meeting officials throughout the day.
Israeli media reported that Mr. Hochstein had told Benjamin Netanyahu that Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah was not ready to cease hostilities in northern Israel until the Gaza war was over. He also pointed out that the United States was trying to avoid an open war with Lebanon.
On the other hand, the Pentagon said: "We are working with our partners in the Middle East to reach a diplomatic solution on the Lebanese-Israeli border. No one wants to see a regional war," it added.
On the US side, Barbara Leaf, Under Secretary of State for the Middle East, described the situation on the southern Lebanese border as "extremely unstable and worrisome".
In this context, the Israeli army announced that the Northern Command had approved an attack plan against Lebanon, adding that this operational plan included decision-making mechanisms to speed up the preparation of forces on the ground.
In the same context, Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Kantz said he was very close to taking a decision to "change the rules of the game against Hezbollah and Lebanon". He added that if all-out war broke out, Israel would destroy Hezbollah and Lebanon would suffer a devastating blow.
