- Egyptian Soldier Killed by Israeli Army
An Egyptian soldier was killed in a shootout with the Israeli army at the Rafah crossing on Monday, according to a report by Israeli website Walla.
Earlier, the Israeli newspaper Ma'ariv reported that an Egyptian soldier was killed during an exchange of gunfire with the Israeli army at the crossing. Several others were injured in the exchange between the two armies.
The Israeli army has not yet determined which side opened fire, but according to their soldiers' testimonies, it appears that an Egyptian soldier fired the first shot at their Israeli counterpart. The Israeli army spokesperson's unit stated that "the incident is under review and discussions are being held with the Egyptians."
