Public Administration Employees Threaten Open-Ended Strike
The Public Administration Employees Association announced in a statement that "some ministries are taking arbitrary measures that have no legal basis, in a suspicious attempt to enslave employees, or an attempt to offer obedience and groveling at the expense of the employee's dignity."

The statement said, "Of these behaviors, one ministry asked employees to sign a pledge stipulating additional conditions that were not presented in the circular."

"Therefore, we ask employees not to sign this pledge or any similar pledge, as it contains a clear, explicit and unacceptable violation of the Personnel Law, as well as arbitrary conditions that were not mentioned in the circular issued by Prime Minister Najib Mikati," it added.

It pointed out that "the circular only stipulated that the employee would be deprived of the allowance in the event of unjustified absence, and did not stipulate deprivation in the event of leaving before the end of work or being late in the morning, especially since there are humanitarian circumstances that sometimes impose this matter."

"This pledge is part of the policy of arbitrariness and authoritarianism," it said, adding that "this pharaonic policy may lead to the disruption of the public administration."

"Otherwise, we will be forced to declare an open strike," it stated. "The government must stop this farce and hold those who violate the dignity of employees accountable."
