458 Migrants Intercepted by Cyprus Coast Guard
Cypriot police announced on Tuesday that the Cyprus Coast Guard had intercepted six boats carrying 458 migrants who departed from Lebanon.

A spokesperson for the Cypriot police said that the migrants included minors without parents, were almost all from Syria and Lebanon and were all rescued within the past 24 hours. Additionally, all 458 migrants were placed in a camp west of the Cypriot capital, Nicosia.

It is important to note that, according to European Union statistics, Cyprus has recorded the highest number of asylum applications per capita in the entire European bloc in recent years.
