Rai: Delaying the Presidential Election Has Caused Chaos
Maronite Patriarch Bechara al-Rai stated on Sunday, “Delaying the presidential election has caused general chaos, allowing officials to monopolize power to the point of oppression, which represents a threat to national unity.”

During his sermon, Rai emphasized, “The distortions in the constitution and coexistence in Lebanon will cause the roof to collapse on all of us.”

Furthermore, Rai saluted the efforts of the Quintet Committee, aiming at unblocking the presidential election, and expressed hope that political forces would respond to them.

To recall, the ambassadors of the Quintet Committee in Lebanon (United States, France, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Qatar) held their second coordination meeting last Tuesday to discuss the means to resolve the political crisis in Lebanon.

Rai also addressed the issue of land registry offices in Mount Lebanon, which have been closed for a year and a half, considering that “the delay in taking practical and serious steps to normalize work was dangerous and unacceptable.”
