One Israeli soldier was killed, and at least eight others were injured in an attack on their base from Lebanon, according to Israeli media.
More than twenty rockets were launched from southern Lebanon, targeting northern Galilee, where sirens were heard. The origin of the attacks has not been specified. Neither Hezbollah nor Palestinian militias, which resumed their illegal activities in the southern part of the country, claimed responsibility.
According to the Jerusalem Post, the Israeli army announced in a press release that “numerous launches were identified crossing from Lebanon into the areas of Netu’a, Manara, and an Israeli base in northern Israel.”
“This is not a trickle [of rockets], it’s war,” wrote the Israeli Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir on X following the attack. Gvir called for a radical change in how Israel manages the balance of forces on the Lebanese border.
According to the Jerusalem Post, the attack set a building on fire in the city of Safed in Galilee.
The Israeli army responded by bombing the Marwhin perimeter, as well as the Emm al-Tout area.
