The National Liberal Party (NLP) strongly denounced the visit of Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian. The party expressed its disapproval of Abdollahian’s statements, which linked Lebanon’s security to that of Iran, as a blatant interference in Lebanese affairs, exposing the country to further pressure.
In a statement released on Monday, the NLP condemned the attitude of the Iranian minister, stating that he “acts as if Lebanon were a province of the Islamic Republic of Iran.” The party questioned why Abdollahian does not address Israel from his own country instead of proposing equations to link Lebanon to the Gaza conflict, serving Iran’s interests.
The statement characterized Abdollahian’s remarks as “a clear violation of Lebanese sovereignty, requiring clarification from the Lebanese authorities.”
The NLP also reminded the minister that Iranian interference is the root cause of the country’s economic collapse.
