Elias El Murr Prepares His Return to the Political Arena
After a decade at the head of the INTERPOL Foundation for a Safer World, Elias El Murr, former Vice-President of the Council of Ministers and former Minister of the Interior and Defense, has decided to re-enter the Lebanese political scene to continue the legacy of his father, Michel El Murr, who passed away in January 2021.

Elias El Murr, whose son currently sits in Parliament in his grandfather's place, has put together a team of assistants and advisors and has decided to resume political work from his father's offices. He is also trying to rally members to his new political party, the Republic Party, which he has not yet officially launched.

Elias El Murr intends to initiate contacts with various political forces to form political alliances ahead of the parliamentary elections scheduled for June 2026, in which he is already planning to take part by running in the Metn caza.
