Rifi: Presidency Is a Priority for 'The Gathering of the State of Greater Lebanon'
MP Ashraf Rifi announced on Tuesday that he has organized a series of meetings with all forces that “support the concept of the State of Greater Lebanon.” These gatherings are grounded in the principles of sovereignty, freedom, independence, state-building and the fight against corruption.

Following a meeting in Bkerke between Maronite Patriarch Bechara Rai and the follow-up committee for "The Gathering of the State of Greater Lebanon" project, Rifi conveyed the intention to formalize the committee as a permanent institution, placing a primary focus on the presidency. Rifi emphasized the need for Greater Lebanon to be governed by a civil state that embraces unity in diversity and respects the distinct characteristics of Lebanon’s Muslim and Christian components.

“We have initiated the presentation of practical ideas and are gearing up to engage with the Lebanese people across all regions,” he added.

The Gathering of the State of Greater Lebanon is a coalition of various opposition figures united to counter calls for federalism. Launched on January 18 in Bkerke by Hayat Arslan, the project brings together numerous collectives from the October 17, 2019 protest movement along with prominent figures from the March 14 movement.
