Southern Lebanon: Hezb-Israel Clashes Intensify
After a night marked by heightened tensions, the southern front remains on edge as Hezbollah and Israel continue their attacks.

On Monday morning, Hezbollah announced that it had targeted the Branit barracks with Burkan missiles. They also declared they had targeted the Hadb Yarin and Birkat Risha sites just after midnight on Sunday. Late Sunday evening, Hezbollah targeted the Ras al-Naqoura maritime site belonging to the Israeli Army using a guided missile. The group also mourned three of its fighters who lost their lives in the recent hostilities.

On their side, the Israeli artillery launched heavy shelling on the southern front, particularly in the western and central sectors. According to the National News Agency (NNA), the vicinity of the towns of Naqoura, Yarine, Alma al-Shaab, Dhayra, Aita al-Shaab, Shihine, Wadi Yater, and Bayt Lif were subjected to heavy artillery shells. Also around midnight, the bombardment renewed, impacting the town of Dhayra, causing significant damage to homes and infrastructure, and resulting in injuries.

The Israeli Army also fired shells in the vicinity of destroyed houses in Dhayra, where Civil Defense medics worked to inspect potential injuries among the rubble. As such, the medics transferred several cases of respiratory distress and suffocation from Marwahin and Dhayra due to possible phosphorous gas inhalation.

Additionally, the Israeli Army released flare bombs over the villages of the western and central sectors, reaching as far as Maroun al-Ras and the city of Bint Jbeil throughout the night. Reconnaissance flights continued over the affected areas and the vicinity of Tyre.

The situation of displaced individuals due to tensions in the south continues to worsen. These individuals, displaced to the city of Tyre, lack aid, compounded by the harsh winter weather.
