The ceiling of one of the classrooms of the only public school for girls in Minyeh, Tripoli, collapsed on Thursday without causing any injuries.
As a safety measure, the school management preferred to send the schoolgirls home before the end of classes. The decision was taken in coordination with the schoolgirls' parents.
The families demanded that the competent authorities send “a technical team to inspect the building and its structure," fearing a deeper construction problem that could cause a new collapse.
They urged authorities “to take urgent measures” in this direction, recalling that “this school is the only one for girls in the region," hence the importance of preserving it.
In any case, with the torrential rains that have fallen in all regions of the country recently and the dilapidation of certain unmaintained buildings and infrastructure, this type of incident is unfortunately becoming common.
