Mikati Receives Italy's Foreign Affairs Minister
Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati received the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Italian Republic, Antonio Tajani, on Wednesday afternoon at the Grand Serail.

The Italian minister, who is on an official visit to Beirut, stated that he "will tour other countries of the region to promote calm and peace." He added, "Italy supports Lebanon in its positions and continues to assist in establishing calm in the South."

During the meeting, Mikati asserted that "Lebanon supports a peaceful solution in the region, and Italy and Europe have a crucial role to push things in this direction."


Additionally, he underscored the importance of "Lebanon's dedication to fully executing international resolutions, particularly Resolution 1701 of the Security Council, and the ongoing collaboration between the Lebanese Army and UNIFIL."

The meeting was attended by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ambassador Hani Chmaitli and the Prime Minister's advisors, former minister Nicolas Nahhas and Ambassador Boutros Assaker. On the Italian side, Tajani was accompanied by the Italian Ambassador to Lebanon Nicoletta Bombardieri.
