Samir Geagea: Lebanon is in the Eye of the Storm
The leader of the Lebanese Forces, Samir Geagea, expressed regret for Lebanon, stating that the country was “in the eye of the storm” due to the non-implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701.

He emphasized that if the resolution had been implemented, Lebanon could have been “spared from everything it is witnessing,” as the Lebanese Army would have been deployed in the south.

“The situation in the region is ambiguous, with the latest event being what happened between Iran and Pakistan; Lebanon thus finds itself in the eye of the storm,” expressed Geagea during a phone call with participants from the Tripoli branch of the Lebanese Forces on Monday.

He continued: “If the Lebanese Army had been deployed to the southern border, we could have spared the country and its population from everything we are currently witnessing.”

Geagea also acknowledged that “supporting the Palestinian cause is one thing, and gaining political benefits under the slogan of the Palestinian cause is another.”

As a result, he affirmed that “the presidential elections are postponed, awaiting a resolution of the situation in the region.”
