- Israeli Raid in Bint Jbeil: A Hezb Member Killed
Two people, among them a member of Hezbollah, were killed in an Israeli raid that targeted their Kia vehicle at the Sarbine-Kafra junction in Bint Jbeil, not far from a Lebanese Army checkpoint. According to the Sky News Arabia website, one of the two people killed is Fadl Sleiman Chaar, a member of the security team of a senior member of the pro-Iranian group. The other victim is a woman whose name wasn't revealed.
The attack took place at 1:45 PM on Sunday. An Israeli drone fired an air-to-surface missile at the Kia, which burst into flames. A rapid-moving car driving nearby was also hit. Eight other people were injured. Four of them are in serious condition.
Fadl Sleiman Chaar was part of the close protection team of a senior member of Hezbollah, reportedly the commander of the central sector in southern Lebanon, Fadi Sleiman. According to several Lebanese and Arab media reports, it was the latter who was targeted by the raid. However, it is not known whether he was in the bombarded car.
The strike on a car in south Lebanon "killed a member of Hezbollah's protection team", a Lebanese security official told AFP, adding that the senior commander he was protecting "escaped death".
A source close to Hezbollah denied that a high-level official had been the target of the strike. Both sources spoke on condition of anonymity for security concerns.
According to the security official, the Hezbollah commander was in a vehicle with three other people, behind the car that was hit.
The source close to Hezbollah said the strike also wounded a civilian woman, Samar Sayyed Mohammad, who was in the area at the time of impact. She did not survive.
The attack followed a bombardment of the Israeli barracks in Pranit, claimed by Hezbollah at 1 PM.
The Israeli Army then shelled the perimeter of the village of Rmeish.
By Sunday morning, it had shelled the adjacent areas of Aitaroun, Maroun al-Ras, Yaroun, Hamames, Bourj el-Moulouk, Jebbine, Chihine, and the Marjayoun plain.
Late this morning, two Israeli air-to-ground missiles were launched against an abandoned house in Markaba.
