Abdallah: Tying Presidential Elections to Regional Crisis Is Suicidal
Chouf MP and member of the Progressive Socialist Party (PSP) parliamentary group Bilal Abdallah affirmed on Tuesday that "we must take advantage of the danger on Lebanon due to regional changes and the war on Gaza to elect a president for the republic and form a government."

He considered that "linking the presidential deadline to the crisis in the region is a suicidal decision," and emphasized "prioritizing internal interests."

Regarding the dinner that brought together Marada leader Sleiman Frangieh and former PSP leader Walid Joumblatt, he said that it aimed for "openness and convergence regardless of the details."

He noted that the Progressive Socialist Party is working "tirelessly to develop the internal solution with all parties."

He pointed out that the meeting had two aspects, "the first related to communication and has always existed between the Marada movement and the PSP, and the second is part of the constant movement of convergence and openness with all parties."

Regarding new alliance outlines, he said, "The issue is not about alliances more than it is about crystallizing the consensus internal solution among all Lebanese," expressing regret "because this solution has not matured yet." He said that "matters are postponed," expressing his regret "for Lebanon's anticipation of external solutions, including the Group of Five, which is not able to break the wall without internal dialogue."
